The Platform for The National Technological Initiative: A Brief Summary
Platform for the National Technological Initiative (NTI) is a non-commercial entity conceived by the President of the Russian Federation in 2014 and instituted by an Executive order of the Government of Russia in 2018. It acts as a facilitator for efforts of business and expert communities in the development of future markets and industries that will be the cornerstone of the global economy in the near future, crucial in supporting Russia’s global technical leadership.

The Platform conceives new policies for fostering future markets and supports a wide range of activities aimed at achieving integrity and sustainability of essential technological domains, as well as aids the development of new cross-cutting and disruptive solutions, nurtures small-scale research teams, accelerates startups growth and trains appropriately qualified staff for future markets. An important function of the Platform is furthering technological sovereignty, including self-sufficiency in technological policies, on the international scale.

As of end 2023, the NTI had nearly 4,000 tech companies in its orbit focused on the selected fifteen future markets and 24 centers of competence. More than 3,000 articles of intellectual property have been created by the virtue of the platform’s thorough support. The Platform operates a series of dedicated initiatives that drive the establishment of future markets, as well as the network of affiliated structures, such as the "Leader-ID" online service with 4.4 million researchers, tech entrepreneurs and experts, and a network of 170 coworking spaces tentatively called "Boiling Points" spanning the whole country from Kaliningrad to Kamchatka.
